We thank Timothy Tardibono for his service to the Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Advisory Council and wish him well in his newly appointed position as the executive director of the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs. Since 2017, Tardibono has served as Executive Director of the CJAC. His steady leadership has helped our local justice system navigate struggles and achieve major progress.
“Oklahoma is blessed with numerous natural resources, but none more important than our children and youth,” Tardibono said. “It is a privilege to accept Governor Stitt’s call to lead the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs and advance the Governor’s mission to provide quality service to our children, their families, and Oklahoma’s residents.”
During his time at CJAC, he worked alongside advocates and elected leaders to assist with the increase in diversion programs, cite and release policies, sentencing reforms and better access to substance abuse treatment, which have all contributed to a more than 40% reduction in the jail population, thousands of cleared warrants, and the reintegration of justice-involved people back into the workforce. Perhaps most importantly through this time, Tardibono has forged connections and enabled higher cooperation among agencies in the justice system that will impact long-term improvements and contribute to a more fair and effective justice system. He has helped our community move toward a justice system in which everyone is treated with respect and dignity.
His knowledge and experience will surely be a great benefit to young Oklahomans encountering the justice system, and his passion for positive change in the face of complex issues will empower a better way forward for our state.
Congratulations, Timothy, and thank you for your service to CJAC and Oklahoma County.
